Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Inspire and support students as a dedicated professional working directly with learners who are visually impaired in a supportive educational environment near Lowell, MA. This contract opportunity offers the chance to utilize your expertise as a Visually Impaired Teacher to make a meaningful difference in students’ educational experiences during the 2026-2027 school year. The position is offered with both full-time and part-time scheduling possibilities and requires onsite presence.

Requirements and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Massachusetts Department of Education (MA DOE) license with active endorsement as a Visually Impaired (VI) Teacher
  • Successful completion of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTELs)
  • Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to deliver individualized instruction and track student progress

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support tailored for students with visual impairments
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) according to state and federal guidelines
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching materials using specialized techniques and equipment
  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ ongoing needs and progress
  • Consult with general education teachers and related service staff to promote access and inclusion
  • Maintain accurate documentation and timely communication with district personnel
