Job Description
The RN Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing nursing services each shift and functions as a nursing supervisor. This position provides daily supervision of staff on duty during operational hours.
\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.

- Assist with clinical and operational processes to improve patient health and minimize hospitalizations and missed treatments. \n
- Demonstrate effective use of supplies and staff labor hours. \n
- Complete and document monthly review of patient medication profiles. Administer medications as ordered by the physician. \n
- Assist physician during patient rounds and transcribe and implement physician orders timely. \n
- Assist with the implementation of anemia management and medication protocols as requested. \n
- Knowledge of and comply with federal, state, local laws and regulations, including health care professionals practice act requirements. \n
- Perform duties at all times within limitations established by and in accordance with company policy and procedures, applicable state and federal laws and regulations. \n
- May give direct patient care to the extent of performing efficient, safe dialysis, if allowed by state regulations. \n
- Responds to all emergencies in clinic. \n
- Communicate results of patient assessment, reassessment, and ongoing monitoring to the physician, team members, and others as appropriate to the individual needs of the patient. \n
- Maintain collaborative working relationship with Medical Director and physicians. \n
- Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary team in all required patient assessment and care planning activities. \n
- Assist in orientation of new staff as a preceptor or in assigning a preceptor. \n
- Acts as resource person and participates in implementing and evaluating dialysis services and assures that policies and procedures are updated. \n
- Assists Administrator in interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and disciplinary actions of center staff \n
Qualifications/Requirements:
\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements include:
\n- \n
- Current RN license in applicable state. License must be maintained as current and in good standing. \n
- 12 months experience in providing nursing care, including 3 months of experience in providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis. \n
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire. \n
- Confirmation of ability to distinguish all primary colors. \n
- Demonstrated ability to function in a leadership position and to perform in new and emergent situations with sound judgment. \n
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate verbally and in writing. \n
- Must have basic computer skills; proficiency in all USRC clinical applications required within 90 days of hire. \n
- Must meet any practice requirement(s) for the applicable state. (See addendum for RN Charge Nurse.) \n
