Job Description
Shape Precision That Powers Patient Care — A Day in This Role

When you step onto the TOMZ manufacturing floor, you’ll own the setup and production of tight‑tolerance components in our Swiss machining department. You’ll stage materials, load programs, dial in tools, and bring Citizen and Tsugami lathes up to speed. From first‑article to steady production, you’ll keep parts moving and quality locked in to ISO 13485.

What You’ll Do
  • Configure and run Swiss CNCs (Citizen, Tsugami), Index multi‑spindle lathes, as well as 3‑, 4‑, and 5‑axis equipment including RoboDrill, mill‑turn, and horizontal/vertical mills.
  • Execute offsets, tool changes, and in‑process adjustments to sustain efficient cycle times with minimal assistance.
  • Set up complex legacy work and launch new production orders for stable, repeatable output.
  • Verify quality using microscopes, micrometers, calipers, pin/thread gauges, comparators, Micro‑Hite, CMM, and vision inspection systems.
  • Carry out scheduled and routine preventive maintenance to keep machines production‑ready.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced machine and process issues; drive root‑cause problem solving.
  • Create, maintain, and compile documentation aligned to ISO 13485 and internal quality inspection standards.
  • Manage material control, identification, and full traceability for conforming and nonconforming product.
  • Champion Quality Best Practices and continuous improvement in GDP/GMP.
  • Mentor and train junior machinists; share best practices to elevate team capability.
  • Use ERP and QMS tools to document inspections and maintain traceable records.
  • Maintain safe conditions and follow occupational health and PPE requirements.
  • Adhere to the TOMZ Quality Management System and take on additional duties as needed.
What You Bring
  • Background in Class I/II/III medical device manufacturing within a regulated setting using calibrated equipment and, at times, hazardous materials.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, or automotive is applicable.
  • Working knowledge of GMP and ISO practices.
  • Self‑starter who collaborates across R&D, Manufacturing, and QA, delivering results with limited guidance.
  • Advanced skill in operating, caring for, and inspecting mechanical equipment.
  • Comfort using hand tools for PM, minor repairs, and tooling changes.
  • Proficiency reading blueprints, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Keen attention to detail; accurate, timely task completion.
  • Ability to identify nonconformances and maintain organized workflows.
  • Intermediate GD&T capability.
Education & Experience
  • Technical school certification or directly transferable experience in manufacturing/engineering; certification strongly preferred.
  • 3–7 years in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Clear, professional communication in English (written and verbal).
Physical Demands & Environment
  • Lift up to 50 lbs; team lift or mechanical assist above 50 lbs.
  • Repetitive hand/arm motions while handling up to 20 lbs; gripping, twisting, placing parts for extended periods; occasional overhead lifting.
  • 20/20 vision (corrected or uncorrected) for sorting raw and non‑conforming materials; fine dexterity for small to medium components.
  • Regular exposure to oil, grease, noise, solvents, dust, metal fines, sparks, coolant, and sharp edges; PPE such as safety glasses, dust masks, ear plugs, and cut‑ or chemical‑resistant gloves, plus engineering controls, may be required.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long durations.
Shifts & Differentials
  • Weekend Shift: 20% differential, 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Fri–Sun
  • 2nd Shift: 15% differential, 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM
  • 1st Shift: No differential
