Senior Imaging Engineer
- Location: Danvers, MA
- Remote work is available one day per week. Additional remote work days can be arranged in consultation with your manager for special circumstances.

Role Description
Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of medical image reconstruction, processing, visualization algorithms for medical imaging products. Optimize performance of algorithms for product platforms. Work in a cross-disciplinary and cross-functional team of engineers, clinical application specialists, product managers, manufacturing engineers, and field service engineers to design, develop, and support customer-centric medical imaging products. Participate in customer engagement to collecting unmet user needs. Design and execute scientific studies to evaluate and benchmark technologies and publish scientific and clinical results.
Key duties and responsibilities, other duties may be assigned:
- Design and optimize medical image reconstruction, processing, and visualization algorithms.
- Contribute to qualitative and quantitative assessment of image quality.
- Independently own and lead imaging software and algorithm development projects through all phases: requirements, design, implementation, verification, release, and field service support, including planning, scheduling, and risk management.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, including design and code reviews and guidance on best practices.
- Drive complex technical decisions and trade-offs with broad impact on product and team direction, and communicate rationale and status to cross-functional stakeholders and management.
- Work individually and as part of team of imaging engineers, software engineers, and system engineers in support of the entire R&D and the overall business.
- Participate in clinical studies.
- Update system documentation per product release.

Education & Experience
- PhD, MSc, or BS in Computer Science, Medical Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline.
- 5+ years of clinical or industrial experience in a medical imaging field with a PhD, 7+ years with a Master's degree, or 10+ years with a Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated experience independently owning and leading imaging software or algorithm projects from requirements through release
- Experience providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
- Proven project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and risk management
Computer & Analytic Skills
- 6+ years of C/C++/Python programming experience
- 6+ years of experience with image reconstruction, pre-processing, and artifact reduction algorithms
- Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), software architecture, and object-oriented design
- Working knowledge of the DICOM standard and medical imaging data formats
- Experience developing and deploying software in Linux environments (Windows experience also a plus)
- Experience with statistical analysis and applying results to inform algorithm and design decisions
- Familiarity with additional development tools such as Python scientific libraries (NumPy, SciPy), Git/version control, unit testing frameworks (e.g., pytest), and CI/CD pipelines
- Excellent verbal, written and computer-based communication skills

Physical Requirements
- Occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds

- The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.
- Required to wear dosimeter when in direct contact with radiation emitting devices.
