Position Description:Harvest Home is searching for an energetic, motivated, and reliable Residential Program Substitute to maintain a safe and supportive communal living environment among Harvest Homes residents. The sub will be expected to provide onsite supervision and assistance with daily activities in the absence of the Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) or Overnight Assistant at either the Pico Home or the Venice Home.
Position Schedule:
RLC shifts are Monday through Sunday 3:00 PM 11:00 PM
Subs will be asked to cover the above shifts as needed for illness, bereavement, vacation, etc., across both sites
** Please note that sub shifts may be scheduled in advance or may be requested last minute.**
Primary Responsibilities of Sub RLC:
Include but are not limited to:
- Guide residents through scheduled activities
- Ensure daily chores are completed by residents
- Assist women with babies and household activities as necessary
- Support residents in upholding Harvest Home policies
- Respond to any emergencies that may arise
- Facilitating dinner, including attendance, participation, and opportunities for connections/building community over dinner discussions
- Supporting clients in practicing life skills (chores, cooking, timeliness, etc)
- Ensuring the safety and security of the home through proper end-of-shift lock up protocol
- Secure the residents in the home by curfew and lock-up at the end of shift
- Supporting a client by driving them to the hospital when in labor; or assisting with driving them home from the hospital after birth
- Log activities at the beginning and end of shift
- Responding to emergencies
Qualifications, Work Experience, and Abilities:
- Organized with the ability to balance multiple competing priorities
- An understanding of and sensitivity to issues concerning homelessness, women's health, pregnancy, parenting, trauma, mental health, etc.
- Communicates in a solution-oriented manner
- Understanding of agency best practices (harm reduction, strengths based perspective, restorative justice, motivational interviewing, trauma informed care)
- High self-accountability, sets and strives for high expectations for self and others
- Able to establish and cultivate respectful and appropriate relationships with clients of diverse backgrounds
- Excellent emotional and relational intelligence
- Relational skills and healthy boundaries a must
- Strong critical thinking, active listening, and problem-solving skills
- Crisis-intervention and/or de-escalation training, skills, and/or experience preferred
