Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Acute Care position requiring a GA or compact RN license, BLS certification, and at least 1 year of hospital Med/Surg experience.
Details
- Acute Care Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting with 36 beds
- Common patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, ESRD, pneumonia, renal failure, sickle cell crisis, orthopedic surgery, bariatric surgery, AMS, and sepsis
- Patient ratios: RN/LPN 6:1, CNA 12:1
- Telemetry monitoring is present on the unit; nurses are not required to read strips
- Charting system: MEDITECH
- 12-hour day shifts, 7a–7p
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday coverage required
- Occasional floating required
- Hospitalist in house 24/7
- Respiratory therapy available 24/7
- No dedicated IV team; PICC team may be consulted as needed
- Charge nurse and nurse aides are available on the unit
- 17-week contract
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS
- ACLS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of hospital Med/Surg experience required
- MEDITECH experience preferred
- Driver's license required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility (measured from the address on the driver's license) to be eligible
- Candidates who have been employed by the facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
Additional Information
- Scrub color requirement: white tops and hunter green pants
- Floor-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
- Any time-off or scheduling requests must be disclosed upfront at the time of assignment confirmation
- The facility uses hand sanitizer compliance badges that must be returned at the end of the assignment
