Job Description
Established New York real estate management firm seeks a detail-oriented accounting professional to support financial reporting, property-related filings, document management, and recurring administrative processes across the portfolio. This role is well suited to a candidate with strong organizational skills, sound accounting fundamentals, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines carefully and consistently. The position will involve a combination of accounting support, filing coordination, records management, and interaction with outside advisors. The ideal candidate will be dependable, precise, and comfortable working in a small-office environment where accuracy and follow-through matter.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain supporting schedules and records
- Assist with recurring property and corporate filings, including RPIE filings and related submissions
- Coordinate with certiorari counsel and assemble financial and property information needed for tax certiorari matters
- Maintain and improve digital filing systems for financial, legal, and property records
- Organize and digitize historical physical files and integrate them into the firm’s recordkeeping systems
- Support corporate record maintenance
- Help document internal procedures, filing requirements, and key administrative workflows
- Provide general accounting and operational support as needed across the real estate portfolio
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
- Five or more years of relevant experience in accounting, property accounting, real estate operations, or a similar support role
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines and follow established procedures carefully
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MRI or similar accounting/property management software preferred
- Familiarity with New York City real estate filings, property tax matters, or certiorari procedures is helpful but not required
- Professional demeanor and ability to communicate effectively with outside counsel, consultants, and internal staff
