Job Summary

The Director of Baseball Operations leads and oversees all aspects of a local youth travel baseball organization, including team management, player development, scheduling, and organizational administration. This individual serves as the primary point of contact for coaches, families, and league partners, and is responsible for building a competitive, positive, and well-run program.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

• Set the overall vision, goals, and direction for the organization

• Recruit, hire, and supervise coaches across all age divisions

• Establish and enforce standards for player conduct, sportsmanship, and development

Team & Roster Management

• Oversee tryout processes, player evaluations, and team selections

• Manage roster rosters across multiple age groups (8U–18U or applicable divisions)

• Coordinate player movement, call-ups, and releases in alignment with league rules

Scheduling & Logistics

• Build and manage the tournament schedule, including registration for showcases and league play

• Coordinate field reservations, practice schedules, and facility usage

• Arrange team travel logistics for away tournaments, including hotels and transportation

Family & Community Communication

• Serve as the main point of contact for parent and player concerns

• Communicate program updates, schedules, and policies clearly and consistently

• Foster a welcoming environment that prioritizes player development over winning at all costs

Budget & Administration

• Develop and manage the annual operating budget, including registration fees and tournament costs

• Oversee uniform and equipment procurement

• Maintain player registrations, waivers, and eligibility documentation

Partnerships & Fundraising

• Cultivate relationships with local sponsors, facilities, and community partners

• Organize fundraising efforts to offset costs for families when possible

Qualifications

• Background in baseball at the high school, college, or competitive travel level (playing or coaching)

• 2+ years of experience in youth sports administration, coaching, or program management

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to manage volunteers, coaches, and family expectations diplomatically

• Familiarity with platforms such as GameChanger, Perfect Game, or USSSA preferred

• Passion for youth development and building a positive team culture
