Non-Medical Caregiver / Personal Care Assistant
Position Summary
A Non-Medical Caregiver provides compassionate assistance and companionship to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and clients who need support with daily living activities. The caregiver helps clients maintain their independence, safety, comfort, and quality of life while remaining in their homes. This position does not include medical services, diagnosis, medication administration, or skilled nursing care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Personal Care Assistance
- Assist clients with bathing, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene.
- Help with toileting and incontinence care when needed.
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and ambulation.
- Encourage clients to maintain personal independence whenever possible.
Companionship and Emotional Support
- Provide friendly conversation and social interaction.
- Engage clients in recreational activities, hobbies, and community outings.
- Offer emotional support and encouragement.
- Monitor clients' well-being and report concerns to supervisors.
Household Support
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including:
- Dusting and vacuuming
- Laundry and linen changes
- Dishwashing
- Maintaining a clean and safe living environment
- Assist with organizing household items.
Meal Preparation
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals according to client preferences.
- Assist with grocery shopping and meal planning.
- Encourage proper nutrition and hydration.
Transportation and Errands
- Provide transportation to appointments, social activities, and community events as authorized.
- Assist with shopping, prescription pick-up, and other errands.
Documentation and Communication
- Maintain accurate records of services provided.
- Report changes in client condition, behavior, or living environment to supervisors.
- Communicate professionally with clients, families, and care team members.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous caregiving, home care, or customer service experience preferred.
- Ability to pass background screening and drug testing (if applicable).
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

- Ability to follow care plans and company policies.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, transfer, or assist clients up to company policy limits.
- Ability to perform household tasks and assist with mobility needs.
- Ability to travel to client homes and community locations.
Work Environment
- Client homes and community settings.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- May work with clients of various ages, backgrounds, and care needs.
