The Ophthalmic Technician will provide essential clinical support within a private ophthalmic clinic, working closely as part of a small team. This role focuses on assisting with preliminary eye exams and diagnostic procedures for a diverse patient population. The technician is responsible for patient screening, operating specialized ophthalmic equipment, and ensuring accurate data recording to facilitate effective patient care.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient screening and visual acuity testing
  • Operate and maintain ophthalmic diagnostic equipment
  • Assist with preliminary eye exams and diagnostic support procedures
  • Record and manage clinical data accurately
  • Provide patient education regarding eye health and care procedures
  • Support imaging processes related to ocular assessments
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance to ensure proper functionality

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in ophthalmic technology
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) preferred
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and visual acuity testing
  • Strong patient care and communication skills
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and data entry
  • Attention to detail and understanding of basic eye anatomy
