Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive occupational therapy services in a school setting. Your expertise will support individuals of all ages (PreK to Grade 12) in a school—with a focus on enhancing their functional independence and quality of life. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology, along with experience working with people with disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and those requiring post-acute care. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact through patient-centered care and collaborative case management.
Duties
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities to develop personalized care plans.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to promote independence.
- Implement therapeutic interventions tailored to individual needs in various settings such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, schools, or home health environments.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, physicians, nurses, and educators—to coordinate effective treatment strategies.
- Facilitate discharge planning by preparing patients for transition back to home or community settings while ensuring continuity of care.
- Manage case documentation accurately and maintain detailed records of patient progress and treatment outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families about therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and safety precautions.
- Participate in program development initiatives focused on early intervention, geriatrics, occupational health, or specialized populations like those with autism or disabilities.
- Support compliance with healthcare regulations and standards through diligent documentation and quality assurance practices.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with advances in occupational therapy practices and related fields.
