Job Overview
Beacon Hill is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization seeking a Finance Manager to oversee financial operations, budgeting, reporting, and grant compliance activities. This role will work closely with leadership to support strategic decision-making while ensuring accurate financial reporting and stewardship of organizational resources.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership and board review
- Lead the annual budgeting process and assist with forecasting activities
- Monitor organizational spending and analyze budget-to-actual variances
- Support grant budgeting, tracking, reporting, and compliance requirements
- Prepare account reconciliations and assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Coordinate annual audits and provide supporting documentation to external auditors
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and internal policies
- Assist with process improvements and implementation of financial controls
- Partner with program and operational leaders on financial planning initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Experience working within a nonprofit organization required
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and fund accounting
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders across the organization
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, MBA, or related certification preferred
- Experience with grant management and restricted funding
- Familiarity with nonprofit accounting systems such as Sage Intacct, Blackbaud, MIP, or similar platforms
- Experience presenting financial information to executive leadership or board members
