Job Description
The Hendricks House Group is seeking an experienced, dedicated, and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor (CADC) or a licensed clinician (LCSW, LAC, etc.) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of addiction and recovery processes, with the ability to provide effective counseling services to individuals struggling with substance abuse. This role requires a commitment to patient care, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a therapeutic environment, managing a caseload and clients in a residential halfway house treatment program at our Vineland location.
This is an in-person position Monday - Friday. Must be able to work four (4) evenings a week-12:30 pm to 9:00 pm (M-TH), and one (1) day a week-8:30 am to 5:00 pm (Fri). We are flexible on the early day.
Responsibilities
- Completes NJSAMS intakes. Assesses clients using the ASI or other standardized clinical interview tool & diagnosing clients for substance use disorder using the DSM-5.
- Conducts individual and group therapy sessions focused on addiction counseling and recovery strategies, and documents in EMR system - KIPU.
- Documenting all counseling and education services, assessments, reassessments, referrals and follow-up in clients' clinical record, and provides appropriate signatures, and timely dating of such entries, including those made in electronic records.
- Develops and implements personalized treatment plans based on patient assessments and progress; clinical charting as required.
- Utilizes various therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Behavioral Therapy, to support clients in overcoming their substance use challenges.
- Provides [family] counseling as needed, ensuring that family dynamics are addressed in the treatment process.
- Maintains accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with ICD-10 standards and regulations.
- Engages in home community care initiatives to support clients outside of the clinical setting.
- Development of the client discharge/continuum of care plan to ensure movement to the appropriate levels of care (ASAM).
- Reviews clients throughout the treatment episode as per the ASAM criteria, to determine the need for continued services, transfer, or discharge/transfer
- Maintains client caseload (including all case management and utilization review updates and documents in KIPU).
- Facilitates educational workshops and support groups for the clients to promote awareness of substance abuse issues.
- Contacts, case consultation [if necessary], and coordination with referral sources, (i.e. mental health treatment providers, criminal justice agencies, schools, employers, DCP&P).
- Collaborates with other internal team members and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and support.
- Attends weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting for assigned clients. Participate in supervision.
Qualifications
- ADC Intern: must be currently enrolled in or recently completed a certification program or degree related to social work, counseling, and has completed a minimum of 1500 clinical hours.
- Undergraduate degree in human services; master's degree preferred LCADC, preferred CADC or ability to receive credential within three (3) years of hire. Certifications in addiction counseling are preferred.
- Three years of proven experience in substance abuse counseling or related fields such as psychotherapy or behavioral therapy is a must.
- Strong knowledge of addiction treatment methodologies and familiarity with ICD-10 coding practices. 12-step programming.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Organizational and administrative skills. Able to work independently and under pressure; effectively manage a high-volume caseload; Ability to meet deadlines.
- Empathy, patience, and a nonjudgmental approach towards clients struggling with substance use disorders.
- Knowledge with recovery court.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of substance abuse treatment.
- Ability to work from 12:30p-9p four (4) days a week and one (1) early day from 8:30 am-5p to accommodate our client needs.
