The Human Resources Supervisor serves as the secondary Human Resources resource liaison in lieu of the HR Manager for employee relations, labor relations, policy interpretation, investigations, and workforce compliance. This position partners closely with operational leaders to address workplace concerns, administer collective bargaining agreements, ensure consistent application of company policies, and promote a positive employee experience.
The HR Supervisor acts as a subject matter expert and advisor, providing guidance and recommendations to management while ensuring compliance with labor agreements, company policies, and applicable employment laws. The role requires exceptional organizational skills, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, unionized environment.
Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary Human Resources contact for employee relations matters and workplace concerns.
- Conduct thorough, objective, and timely investigations involving policy violations, employee complaints, misconduct allegations, and workplace conflicts.
- Provide guidance and recommendations to managers regarding attendance, performance concerns, corrective action, and policy application.
- Draft and review disciplinary documentation to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and collective bargaining agreements.
- Maintain detailed investigative records and documentation while ensuring confidentiality.
- Identify trends and recommend proactive solutions to improve employee engagement, morale, and workplace culture.
Labor Relations
- Serve as a key labor relations resource for management and employees.
- Interpret collective bargaining agreements and provide guidance regarding contract administration and compliance.
- Participate in grievance meetings, investigatory interviews, labor-management discussions, and dispute resolution processes.
- Prepare documentation, case files, timelines, and supporting materials related to grievances, arbitrations, and labor matters.
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with union representatives while supporting operational objectives.
- Advise leaders on labor-related risks and recommend appropriate courses of action based on contract language and established practices.
A successful Human Resources Supervisor is recognized as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert who effectively manages employee and labor relations matters, conducts fair and thorough investigations, maintains accurate and organized documentation, exercises sound judgment, and builds credibility with employees, managers, and union representatives. The individual consistently balances compliance, operational needs, and employee concerns while fostering a respectful and productive work environment.
3 years as HR Generalist, overseeing, drafting, Discipline, Investigations, SOPs, using HRIS such as Workday, MWL, ABI, KRONOS, and or other deemed compatible with ATS
2 years or more working in an Unionized environment
