Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist in Charge experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A leadership opportunity is available for a Pharmacist in Charge to oversee pharmacy operations in an inpatient hospital setting. This 13-week contract position offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, providing a stable daytime work routine. The role supports a multidisciplinary team of pharmacists and technicians within a diverse clinical environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing Director of Pharmacy duties, such as creating schedules for pharmacy staff and technicians
  • Collaborating with the Buyer to resolve medication supply chain challenges
  • Leading the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee by preparing agendas, conducting meetings, and implementing approved initiatives
  • Participating in three monthly medical staff committees and contributing to COPD readmission reduction efforts
  • Facilitating monthly department meetings as well as daily weekday department huddles
  • Managing ordering of controlled substances biweekly
  • Overseeing payroll and managing access permissions for Pyxis medication systems

The pharmacy practices in a variety of specialty areas including obstetrics (excluding NICU and high-risk pregnancy), orthopedics, pediatrics (excluding PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, adult behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care services. The pharmacy team consists of approximately 4.5 full-time pharmacists and 6 full-time pharmacy technicians, operating within a hospital preparing for its upcoming Joint Commission survey.

Preferred qualifications and experience include:

  • Previous experience as Pharmacist in Charge or Director of Pharmacy in an inpatient hospital
  • Proficiency with Meditech Expanse order entry system
  • Sterile compounding expertise
  • Active Missouri pharmacy license

Training will be provided onsite for two weeks before the start of maternity leave coverage. While this position does not require office “on-call” duties, the Pharmacist in Charge will act as a resource to support pharmacy staff during business hours.
