Job Description
This role provides experienced clinical research coordination support for an cardiology clinical trial at a research site in Norfolk, VA. The Clinical Research Coordinator will focus on accurate electronic data capture, timely query resolution, and clear communication about the clinical trial while working closely with the site team. The position offers a hybrid schedule, with the coordinator working onsite several days per week and remotely on the remaining days.
Responsibilities
- Collect and enter clinical trial data accurately and promptly into the electronic data capture (EDC) system.
- Review source documents and patient charts to ensure data completeness, accuracy, and consistency with protocol requirements.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve data queries in the EDC system in a timely manner.
- Communicate clearly about the clinical trial with patients and site staff, ensuring information is accurate and appropriate.
- Perform detailed chart reviews to verify data and support high-quality documentation.
- Collaborate with the site research team to maintain compliance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain meticulous records and documentation to support monitoring visits, audits, and inspections.
- Prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment to meet study timelines and data entry deadlines.
- Support ongoing oncology trial activities by ensuring that all data-related processes follow established procedures and standards.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience as a Clinical Research Coordinator.
- At least 2 years of experience with electronic data capture (EDC) data entry.
- Hands-on experience working on cardiology clinical trials.
- Training in Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA).
- Training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
- Proficiency with EDC systems and electronic medical records (EMR).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Ability to interpret and review patient charts and clinical documentation.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and clinical research staff.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a research team in a fast-paced setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience coordinating cardiology studies at a clinical research site.
- Comfort working with multiple clinical systems, including EMR and EDC platforms.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and data timelines.
- Ability to adapt to changing study needs and priorities.
Work Environment
The role follows normal business hours in a fast-paced clinical research setting. The position is onsite, with an expectation to work onsite 5 days per week. The environment requires consistent attention to detail, frequent use of electronic medical record (EMR) and electronic data capture (EDC) systems, and regular collaboration with clinical and research staff. The coordinator will work in a professional clinical office environment that supports focused, accurate data entry and documentation.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
