Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist in Charge experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Pharmacist in Charge opportunity available for a 13-week contract in an inpatient hospital setting. This role is integral to overseeing pharmacy operations and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, all within a collaborative healthcare environment focused on diverse specialty areas including OB, orthopedics, pediatrics, oncology, cardiology, and more.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Director of Pharmacy, managing daily operations and overseeing a pharmacy team comprised of 4.5 pharmacists and 6 technicians.
  • Create and manage schedules for pharmacy staff to maintain optimal coverage.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing team to address medication supply chain challenges.
  • Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee: prepare agendas, conduct meetings, and implement approved initiatives.
  • Participate in three medical staff committees and COPD readmission reduction meetings monthly.
  • Conduct monthly department meetings and weekday daily huddles to ensure effective communication.
  • Manage controlled substances ordering twice per week.
  • Oversee payroll and access controls for Pyxis users.
  • Act as an accessible resource for pharmacy staff questions and concerns during business hours.
  • Complete a two-week onsite training period before transitioning into maternity leave coverage.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Active Missouri pharmacy license.
  • Proven experience as a Pharmacist in Charge or Director of Pharmacy in an inpatient hospital environment.
  • Proficiency with Meditech Expanse preferred.
  • Experience with sterile compounding.
  • Ability to engage with multidisciplinary teams across various specialty services.
