Job Description
We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a power distribution organization in Laurens, South Carolina on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This position will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across a multi-state workforce while supporting payroll-related financial and compliance activities. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with full-cycle payroll, strong analytical ability, and confidence working with payroll systems in a high-volume environment.
Responsibilities:
• Administer end-to-end payroll processing for weekly and bi-weekly pay cycles, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule.
• Manage multi-state payroll activities by applying current federal and state wage, tax, and compliance requirements.
• Review payroll data for completeness and accuracy, including time records, earnings, deductions, and manual adjustments when needed.
• Maintain payroll records and support internal control practices by verifying entries, reconciling discrepancies, and documenting changes appropriately.
• Use payroll and accounting systems, including ADP Workforce Now or similar platforms, to process transactions and generate payroll-related reports.
• Partner with HR, accounting, and other internal teams to resolve payroll questions, support billing or pay-related items, and maintain accurate employee information.
• Analyze payroll issues and recommend appropriate solutions by exercising sound judgment and attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in payroll, including full-cycle payroll processing.
• Experience handling high-volume payroll for a workforce of 100 to 500 or more employees.
• Working knowledge of multi-state payroll practices and applicable federal and state payroll regulations.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to manage payroll data accurately and efficiently.
• Familiarity with payroll and HRIS platforms, including ADP Workforce Now and other payroll software tools.
• Understanding of basic accounting concepts, internal controls, and payroll-related financial processes.
• Excellent data entry accuracy, analytical skills, and decision-making ability.
• CPP credential is preferred.
