Job Description: Malone Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical-Surgical RN for a 13-week travel contract at Lucas County Health Center in Chariton, IA. This position requires an independent worker who thrives under limited direct supervision, coordinates seamlessly across shifts for continuity of care, and maintains a high standard of courtesy and communication.
Position Highlights:
- Start Date: ASAP / Flexible
- Shift: Nights | 3x12 Hours | 18:00 - 06:30 | Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
- Contract Length: 13 Weeks
- Location: Chariton, IA (Des Moines, IA market area)
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of dedicated hospital acute care experience.
- Active Compact or IA State RN License in hand.
- Certifications: AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required (ACLS is highly preferred).
- Must complete the Iowa Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification within 6 months of hire (if not already held).
Clinical Responsibilities & Environment:
- Primary Population: General Medical-Surgical hospital patients.
- Core Duties: Plan, direct, evaluate, and provide direct bedside nursing care; administer medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly; safely carry out complex provider orders.
- Emergency Response: Must remain calm, resourceful, and utilize exceptional critical thinking skills during acute patient emergencies.
- Documentation: Maintain strict compliance with accurate, concise, and timely recording within the patient's electronic chart.
Rules, Scheduling, & Logistics:
- Fixed Shift Schedule: Enjoy a predictable front-half of the week schedule—routinely working Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights. Rotating weekend and holiday shifts will apply based on the unit schedule.
