Job Description
Holiday Health Care is now hiring a Cook to join our growing team! This position will assist the head chef with all preparations of regular and special diet foods according to prescribed menus and recipes for large groups.
Positions Available:
- Prepare foods under the direction of the chef such items as vegetables, bread, soups, desserts, appetizers and main entrée.
- Help prepare breakfast for residents.
- Assist in preparation of hall cart for residents’ apartments for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
- Plate food during meal service for servers to serve.
- Proper storing of food and temperature during preparation.
- Makes appropriate preparations for next day meals.
- Assist in maintaining sanitary conditions by overall cleaning of kitchen area.
- Use proper food handling techniques.
- To help where needed.
- Inspects the kitchen for cleanliness and proper storage of food and utensils.
- Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time.
- Performs additional duties.

Experience & Skills:
- Demonstrate compassion and understanding of geriatric residents and families.
- Demonstrates ability to understand and follow directions and accept supervision.
- Must be a self-starter who demonstrates initiative and good judgment.
- Demonstrates the ability to work as part of a team.
- Demonstrates a positive and trusting attitude towards Holiday Village and its administrators and supervisors.
- A neat and clean appearance that follows the dress code of Holiday Village.
- Acknowledges that if any problems arise during the shift they are to notify their supervisor.
- Must be patient and understanding.
Physical Qualifications:
- Must be able to stand at least 90% of your shift
- Must be able to speak and hear in a manner understood by most persons.
- Must be able to pass a visual acuity test
- Must be able to make safe decisions when around kitchen equipment
- Must be able to work in a higher than normal temperature due to the kitchen environment
