Job Description
Job Title: Registered Dietitian
Location: Fortuna, CA
Duration: 13-Week Contract
Schedule: Day Shift – 5x8-Hour Shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours Weekly
Compensation:
- Traveler Pay: $50–$55/hour ($2,000–$2,200/week) based on experience
- Local Pay: $38–$42/hour ($1,520–$1,680/week) based on experience
We are seeking a Registered Dietitian to provide comprehensive nutrition services in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will assess patients' nutritional needs, develop individualized nutrition care plans, provide education and counseling, and support food safety and quality initiatives. This role requires strong clinical knowledge, effective communication skills, and flexibility to support multiple locations as needed.
Responsibilities- Conduct nutritional assessments and develop individualized nutrition care plans.
- Monitor patient nutritional status and adjust interventions as appropriate.
- Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient care.
- Document assessments, recommendations, interventions, and patient progress in accordance with facility standards.
- Participate in food safety monitoring and quality assurance activities.
- Conduct and support food safety audits and compliance initiatives.
- Educate staff on food safety standards and best practices as required.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and infection prevention standards.
- Support departmental initiatives focused on patient outcomes and nutrition services excellence.
- Float between assigned facilities and departments as operational needs require.
- Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Food Science, or a related field from an accredited program required.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential required.
- Current BLS Certification required.
- Minimum two (2) years of Dietitian experience required.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Experience providing clinical nutrition services in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience with food safety practices and compliance monitoring preferred.
- Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition principles and medical nutrition therapy.
- Ability to conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments and care planning.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and audit processes.
- Willingness and ability to learn and perform food safety audits.
- Excellent patient education and counseling skills.
- Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Commitment to quality patient care and regulatory compliance.
