Field Electrical and Service Engineer
$70-100k per year to start

Position Summary
We’re on the lookout for a skilled Field Engineer! This full-time role combines electrical and control system expertise with hands-on field service responsibilities for screen-printing, dry-offset, flexographic, and digital printing machines. In this position, you will troubleshoot technical issues, conduct in-field maintenance, and deliver both on-site and remote support for automated printing equipment. This position combines work at the Erlanger technical office with travel to customer sites across North America (~50-70% field travel) and occasional international travel for training or collaboration with the engineering team at the company headquarters in Italy. Strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams are essential to ensure equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and high customer satisfaction.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination: Interface with clients and contractors to plan, schedule, and execute project activities.
  • On-Site Activities: Test, maintain, and repair electrical systems, components, and automated machinery, while providing daily support to both the internal parts department as well as customers.
  • Field Service & Technical Support: Install, debug, and start-up printing machines; perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs; provide on-site assistance and training to customer operators, maintenance teams, and technicians for installations, troubleshooting, and system issues.
  • Electrical / Engineering Duties: Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PLC/HMI code, and control panel layouts; troubleshoot control systems including PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, sensors, and industrial networks; support retrofit projects and engineering upgrades.
  • Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems related to electrical, control, and mechanical systems
  • Documentation: Prepare technical reports, service records, and recommended solutions.
  • Safety Enforcement: Ensure adherence to safety protocols both in-house and at customer sites.
  • Communication: Clearly convey technical information, project updates, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent field service experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field — preferred but not required.
  • Background in electrical engineering, with exposure to machinery installation, maintenance, or industrial automation preferred.
  • Familiarity with high-speed printing machinery for plastic or glass containers is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to learn new systems, processes, and technical nuances.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including electro-mechanical, PLCs, VME, PC, servo drives, sensors, and control circuits.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, PLC logic, and control panel layouts and knowledge of remote diagnostics, industrial networking, and data logging
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout North America, including overnight stays, with light international travel as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and valid passport required.
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced, field-based environments and adapt to changing technologies.

Working Conditions
  • Frequent travel to customer manufacturing sites across North America and occasional international travel.
