Commercial Litigation Associate

Direct Counsel is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate with 2–5 years of experience to join a premier litigation practice in either Boston or New York. This is an outstanding opportunity for a litigator looking to work on sophisticated, high-stakes commercial disputes while gaining significant responsibility and direct exposure to clients and senior trial attorneys.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing key phases of complex litigation and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Handle all phases of complex commercial litigation matters
• Manage written discovery, document discovery, and discovery strategy
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and dispositive and non-dispositive motions
• Take and defend depositions
• Assist with witness preparation and case development
• Support trial preparation, trial strategy, hearings, and courtroom proceedings
• Collaborate closely with partners, clients, and litigation teams on sophisticated disputes
• Manage case deadlines, strategy, and workflow across multiple active matters

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of commercial litigation experience
• Experience conducting discovery and managing complex litigation matters
• Experience drafting and arguing pleadings and motions
• Experience taking and defending depositions
• Trial preparation and witness preparation experience
• Outstanding academic credentials
• Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and communication skills
• Comparable law firm experience preferred
• Judicial clerkship experience is a plus
• Experience on both the plaintiff and defense side is a plus
• Active bar admission in the jurisdiction of the primary office required

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $225,000 – $325,000
