Picture your day in El Cajon, CA: you walk into a tight-knit, 15-person team inside a 19,000 sq. ft. shop that’s been building for aerospace, defense, and energy since 1971. New equipment is being added, capabilities are expanding, and your voice matters as processes evolve. You’ll split time between hands-on programming and machining, and guiding others to higher performance.

What you’ll do
  • Own complex set-ups and production on multi-axis equipment: 3–5 axis VMCs and lathes with live tooling.
  • Program at the machine and offline as needed; confidently edit G & M code to optimize cycle times and quality.
  • Develop robust machining processes for both prototype and production parts.
  • Review customer RFQs and produce accurate, timely quotes.
  • Coach and mentor machinists; elevate skills across the team.
  • Interpret detailed blueprints and GD verify parts meet specifications through in-process and final inspections.
  • Select and secure workholding, tooling, and cutting parameters; perform daily PM and troubleshoot issues.
  • Champion safety and uphold ISO 9001/AS9100 quality requirements.
Schedule, pay, and benefits
  • 1st shift, 4x10 workweek with occasional Friday overtime.

“In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this California position is between $40/hr and $50+/hr. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.”

What you bring
  • High school diploma or technical certificate in machining/manufacturing.
  • 10+ years running CNC mills and lathes; expert in set-up, changeover, and production run efficiency.
  • Strong G-Code and M-Code fluency; CNC programming proficiency (SurfCAM familiarity is a plus).
  • Deep knowledge of shop safety and standard operating procedures.
  • Clear communicator and collaborative teammate with mentoring experience.
