Job Description
About the role — a day in the life

You start your day walking a facility floor with a clipboard and a curious mind, tracing ductwork, listening for pump vibrations, and noting where future occupants and equipment will fit. By mid-morning, you’re meeting with facility management, architects, and fellow engineers to align on how ventilation, cooling, heating, and utilities will scale. Your afternoon is spent turning field notes into clear recommendations—complete with cost ranges and timelines—so construction and renovation teams can proceed with confidence. Before you wrap up, you review drawings, flag compliance items, and make sure documentation is crystal-clear for stakeholders.

What you’ll do
  • Perform site surveys and evaluate existing HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related building systems for capacity and suitability to support growth.
  • Collaborate closely with facility management, architects, and multidisciplinary engineers to integrate new occupants and machinery into mechanical systems.
  • Identify necessary upgrades and modifications across ventilation, cooling, heating, and utility distribution to accommodate expansion.
  • Develop detailed reports with recommendations, including cost estimates and schedules for implementation.
  • Ensure all proposals and designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance during planning, construction, and renovation phases to support successful execution.
  • Review and approve mechanical design documents, specifications, and drawings associated with personnel and equipment additions.
  • Monitor and inspect completed work to verify conformance with engineering requirements and quality standards.
  • Offer expert, pragmatic problem-solving grounded in building systems and mechanical engineering experience.
  • Communicate project status and mechanical needs effectively, maintaining thorough, accurate documentation for stakeholders.
