Construction Estimator

Hockberger Homes is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing custom home building and remodeling team. This position is responsible for preparing accurate construction estimates, developing project budgets, managing bid packages, and supporting projects from initial design through contract execution and construction.

The ideal candidate has experience in residential construction estimating, blueprint review, cost analysis, and subcontractor coordination. This individual will work closely with homeowners, designers, project managers, vendors, and trade partners to develop accurate pricing and help ensure successful project outcomes.

Competitive pay based on experience.

$25 - $30 hourly

• Prepare accurate construction estimates, budgets, and project bids for custom home and remodeling projects
• Review blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
• Develop scopes of work for subcontractors and suppliers
• Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and vendor proposals
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Designers, and Sales staff throughout the pre-construction process
• Maintain estimating databases, pricing templates, and cost tracking systems
• Conduct project review meetings with trade partners and homeowners
• Research construction materials, products, and building methods
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors
• Assist with contract preparation, pricing updates, and change order pricing
• Support construction teams with estimate-related questions during project execution
• Analyze completed projects to compare estimated versus actual costs

• Experience as a Construction Estimator, Project Coordinator, Project Manager, or similar construction role preferred
• Knowledge of residential construction, remodeling, and custom home building practices
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and construction documents
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
• Experience working with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Experience with estimating, takeoff, or construction management software preferred
