- Environment: High-autonomy, solo tech role (Department consists of 2 Neurologists and 1 EEG Tech)
Key Requirements
- Certification: ABRET Certification REQUIRED (Will accept 10+ years of experience without of certification)
- Education: Graduate of an accredited EEG school
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience
- EMR System: EPIC experience is required
- Life Support: Active CPR certification
Core Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical & Technical Execution
- Perform standard EEGs, Ambulatory EEGs, Long-Term Monitoring (LTM), and Smartskans.
- Utilize the 10-20 measurement system for precise electrode hookup and placement.
- Maintain full working knowledge of Electroneurodiagnostics and digital EEG equipment.
- Corroborate patient clinical history with the requested procedure to ensure testing appropriateness.
- Provide reading Neurologists with all necessary, high-quality information required for accurate interpretation.
Patient Care & Workflow Management
- Properly identify, prepare, and explain procedures to patients.
- Seamlessly navigate through electronic medical records (EPIC) for charting and documentation.
- Coordinate, prioritize, and complete daily scheduled tests independently within appropriate time frames.
- Communicate any patient or procedural complications effectively to supervisors and/or Neurologists.
Lab Operations & Compliance
- Maintain, clean, and stock EEG machines and laboratory supplies daily.
- Document weekly and monthly maintenance in the cleaning logbook.
- Recognize, troubleshoot, and stay updated on equipment upgrades and failures.
- Comply with all regulatory readiness standards, including Joint Commission (JC) priority focus areas, CDC, and State standards.
- Assist with other duties within the cardiac services department as needed.
