This is a temporary opportunity with a duration of approximately three months. Includes optional medical benefits, holiday pay and sick leave accrual. Fully on-site in Oakland.
As a Patient Care Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, supporting patient care delivery and ensuring a safe, compassionate environment. This role is essential to the daily functioning of the unit and requires excellent teamwork, communication, and empathy.
- Provide direct patient care including hygiene, mobility assistance, nutrition support, and comfort measures.
- Take vital signs, record patient data, and assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
- Respond to patient call lights and support safety measures such as ambulation and positioning.
- Assist in technical tasks such as EKGs, specimen labeling, oxygen therapy equipment setup, and basic treatments as directed by the RN.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow infection control protocols.
- Support quality assurance, patient confidentiality, and the mission of UCSF Medical Center.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

- Willingness to learn new skills.
