Job Description
Responsibility to function as a Set Up Technician: Ensure that the employee handbook is being followed, follow all TS 16949 and ISO 14001 Instructions. Ensures adherence to PPE policy and 5s principles. Set up mold, connects all water, air, and hydraulic lines to the mold, and checks all connections for proper flow and operation. Evaluate equipment that is needed for mold changes, install and adjust head tooling, and analyze and resolve work problems. Motivate and mentor team, to support their ongoing development, striving to achieve targets set, and encourages processes to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
SAFETY
- Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principals of safety for self and others in daily activities
- Report all incidents/accidents
- Ensures the use of safe procedures and standard work
- Inspect equipment and verify everything is operational and in good working order
- Understand lockout tagout procedures on all machines
PRINCIPLE DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL ELEMNETS OF THE JOB:
- Transition meeting with outgoing/incoming Set up Technician
- Read setup sheets for tooling instructions, such as head tool size, mold positioning, machine parameters, fixtures, other instructions, as required by supervisor and staged prior to startup of setup
- Advises supervisor of needs for head tooling, and its related components
- Evaluate equipment that is needed for mold changes, such as die tip heating bands, cleaning supplies, gloves, bolts, anti-seize etc. and advises supervisor of needs
- Generate new and updating existing setup sheets as required
- Set all machine parameters, such as temperatures, clamp positions, clamp speeds, screw and injection speeds, parison programming, and timer settings according to specified sheets
- Set up machines and equipment other than molding machines, such as drill presses, punch presses, cooling racks, and other fixtures
- Required to complete mold changes and or assist maintenance doing repair when time permits
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work center area.
- Removes molds and fixtures from equipment and work area, when scheduled.
- Must complete setup check list
- Must set up work center according to established cell layout.
- Assist in production with processing if no mold changes are scheduled
- Analyze and resolves work problems or assist team leader/supervisors in solving problems
- Responsible for housekeeping throughout work center, zone, including all fixtures, equipment, and machines.
- Must strive for continuous improvement of setup operation and ways to control problems that cause downtime or rejects.
EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate, or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and procedure manual
- Preferred mechanical abilities
- General knowledge of hand tools
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Team player/good attitude
