Job Summary
The Tax Manager is responsible for managing tax compliance and planning engagements, overseeing client relationships, and leading engagement teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant tax services. This role provides technical leadership, supervises staff, manages engagement economics, and advises clients on complex tax matters.
Essential Functions
• Manage and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and business entities
• Lead tax planning, consulting, and advisory engagements for clients
• Supervise, coach, and evaluate tax engagement teams
• Serve as primary point of contact for assigned client relationships
• Manage engagement budgets, timelines, and resource allocation
• Support business development efforts and contribute to firm growth initiatives
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field
• Active CPA license
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
• Demonstrated experience managing tax engagements and client relationships
• Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with complex or multi-entity tax structures
• Prior experience managing tax planning or advisory engagements
Physical & Cognitive Demands
• Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
• Ability to analyze complex tax issues, exercise professional judgment, and manage competing priorities
Work Environment Including Travel
• Office, client site, or hybrid work environment
• Limited travel as needed for client meetings
• Moderate noise level typical of a professional office environment

Compensation Range: $100K - $125K
