Job Description
Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Technologist – Blood Bank
Location: Jamaica, NY
Job Type: Contract | 9 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift (4:00 PM – 12:00 AM)
Schedule: 35 Hours/Week | 5 Days/Week
We are seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist with Blood Bank experience to join a high-performing laboratory team. The ideal candidate will perform complex laboratory testing and blood banking procedures to support patient diagnosis, treatment, and transfusion services.
Responsibilities:
• Perform blood typing, antibody screening, crossmatching, and compatibility testing
• Process and prepare blood products for transfusion
• Evaluate and interpret blood bank test results accurately
• Investigate and resolve transfusion-related discrepancies and serological issues
• Monitor and maintain blood inventory levels
• Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing
• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
• Verify accuracy and reliability of laboratory results before reporting
• Follow quality control and quality assurance standards
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and laboratory safety standards
• Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding testing concerns
• Participate in quality improvement and continuing education initiatives
Requirements:
• Associate Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology or Medical Laboratory Technology required
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Clinical Laboratory Technologist experience required
• Minimum 1 year of Blood Bank experience required
• Active NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (092) required
• Strong knowledge of blood banking and transfusion services
• Experience with antibody identification and compatibility testing
• Knowledge of laboratory quality assurance and regulatory standards
• Proficiency with laboratory information systems and laboratory equipment
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
