Description:Position Summary

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with food preparation, meal service, dishwashing, sanitation, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment within the hospital. This position supports the Dietary Department in providing high-quality nutritional services to patients, residents, visitors, and staff while following all safety and sanitation guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and portion food items according to menus and diet orders.
  • Assemble and deliver patient meal trays accurately and timely.
  • Assist patients, residents, visitors, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dining, storage, and food preparation areas.
  • Stock supplies, food items, and beverages as needed.
  • Follow infection control, food safety, and sanitation procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food and supply deliveries.
  • Record temperatures of food, refrigerators, and freezers as required.
  • Dispose of trash and maintain organized work areas.
  • Follow all hospital policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Attend departmental meetings and required training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Supervisor.
Requirements:QualificationsEducation and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous food service or healthcare dietary experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices preferred.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with patients, staff, and visitors.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and carrying items up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet environments.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate kitchen equipment and utensils.
