Description:Position Summary
The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with food preparation, meal service, dishwashing, sanitation, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment within the hospital. This position supports the Dietary Department in providing high-quality nutritional services to patients, residents, visitors, and staff while following all safety and sanitation guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare and portion food items according to menus and diet orders.
- Assemble and deliver patient meal trays accurately and timely.
- Assist patients, residents, visitors, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dining, storage, and food preparation areas.
- Stock supplies, food items, and beverages as needed.
- Follow infection control, food safety, and sanitation procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Assist with receiving and storing food and supply deliveries.
- Record temperatures of food, refrigerators, and freezers as required.
- Dispose of trash and maintain organized work areas.
- Follow all hospital policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
- Attend departmental meetings and required training sessions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Supervisor.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous food service or healthcare dietary experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices preferred.
- Ability to work cooperatively with patients, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and carrying items up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet environments.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate kitchen equipment and utensils.
