Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – Emergency Department
Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: 14-Week Contract
Schedule: Night Shift – 3x12-Hour Shifts
- 6 twelve-hour shifts per two-week pay period
- Average of 36 hours per week
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours Weekly
Compensation: $1,100 – $1,250 Weekly
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to support patient care within a fast-paced Emergency Department environment. The ideal candidate will provide direct and indirect patient care, assist nursing staff with daily patient needs, and contribute to a safe, compassionate, and efficient care environment. Experience in a high-acuity trauma setting is highly preferred.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
- Obtain and document vital signs accurately and report abnormal findings promptly.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and mobility.
- Assist with patient positioning, transfers, and transportation throughout the department.
- Serve as a patient safety attendant when assigned.
- Observe and report changes in patient condition to the healthcare team.
- Maintain patient comfort, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
- Support emergency department workflow and patient throughput initiatives.
- Assist with stocking supplies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a clean and organized patient care environment.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
- Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Current New York State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
- Active New York State CNA Certification required.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
- Minimum one (1) year of direct patient care experience required.
- Prior Level I Trauma Center experience required.
- Emergency Department experience preferred.
- Experience working in high-volume, fast-paced healthcare environments preferred.
- Strong patient care and observation skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a rapidly changing clinical environment.
- Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during emergency situations.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
