About the Role:
The PRN Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the hospital's grounds, landscaping, parking areas, walkways, and exterior facilities to provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This position works on an as-needed basis to support the Facilities Department with seasonal, routine, and emergency grounds maintenance activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely operate groundskeeping and landscaping equipment.
- Knowledge of basic landscaping, lawn care, and grounds maintenance practices.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, standing, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, maintenance, or related fields.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and basic landscape maintenance techniques.
- Certification in landscaping, horticulture, or related field.
- Experience operating commercial mowing and landscaping equipment.
- Basic maintenance or repair skills.
Responsibilities:
- Mow, edge, trim, prune, water, fertilize, and weed landscaped areas to maintain an attractive appearance.
- Remove litter, leaves, debris, and other hazards from hospital property.
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and tools in a safe and effective manner.
- Maintain hospital grounds, lawns, flower beds, shrubs, trees, parking lots, sidewalks, and other exterior areas.
- Follow all hospital safety policies, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support facility operations.
Skills:
The required skills enable you to maintain safe, attractive, and functional hospital grounds while supporting a positive environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Knowledge of landscaping practices and ground maintenance techniques allows you to effectively care for lawns, plants, and outdoor facilities. Physical stamina and the ability to safely operate equipment are essential for completing daily tasks efficiently and safely. Preferred skills, including experience with commercial landscaping equipment and irrigation systems, enhance the ability to maintain grounds at a high standard. Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills support collaboration with facility staff and contribute to a clean, professional, and welcoming healthcare environment.
