Job Summary:
This scale clerk will work in a team environment to provide support to Rowell’s terminal operations in a variety of ways including scaling trucks, preparing and processing shipment paperwork and security tasks associated with controlling access to the terminal. This is a small office environment where cooperation and positive interaction with coworkers is essential.
Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):
- Control access to the facility by opening and closing gates, monitoring security cameras, and verifying identification for employees, visitors, contractors, and vendors.
- Check in contractors and visitors, ensure required documentation is completed, and communicate arrivals to appropriate plant personnel.
- Receive and document incoming deliveries, packages, mail, and vendor shipments, and coordinate distribution to the appropriate departments.
- Prepare documentation and administrative materials needed to support upcoming truck scale operations and daily plant activities.
- Perform extensive computer work using internal ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, email, and other business software to maintain accurate records and communications.
- Maintain accurate files and records and communicate information to internal departments and external stakeholders as needed.
- Provide administrative support to customer service, operations, maintenance, and other departments as required.
- Complete various business system transactions, reports, and related paperwork.
- Maintain a clean and professional office environment, including the scale house, restrooms, and common work areas.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or developed over time.
Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities):
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required:
- 0-5 years office or chemical business environment experience
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, some college experience or degree is a plus.
- Experience in any aspect of chemical distribution
- Experience using any number of ERP systems, experience with Chempax and/or Syspro in particular is a large plus.
- Experience working in a regulatory covered business, such as ISO, FDA, PSM or other regulatory orientated business.
Skills & Ability
- Excellent working knowledge of and experience using the Microsoft office suite of products, including excel and word
- Experience communicating in a professional setting, in person, via phone or via email.

- Ensure availability of personal protective equipment
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
- Monday – Friday (full-time).
- Possible overtime.
- This position will be primarily 7am-3pm, but flexibility is ideal.
