Oversize/Overweight (OSOW) Driver
Position Summary

The Oversize/Overweight (OSOW) Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of oversized and overweight freight in
compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This position requires extensive knowledge of specialized hauling procedures,
permit requirements, route restrictions, load securement standards, and safe driving practices. The OSOW Driver serves as a
professional representative of the company while ensuring exceptional service to customers and maintaining the highest safety
standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate commercial vehicles and specialized trailers used for transporting oversized and overweight loads.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of equipment and cargo.
  • Secure loads using appropriate tie-downs, chains, binders, blocking, bracing, and other load securement devices.
  • Review permits, routing instructions, and regulatory requirements prior to transport.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, pilot car operators, law enforcement, utility companies, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Follow designated routes and comply with all permit restrictions, escort requirements, and travel limitations.
  • Maintain accurate logs, trip reports, fuel records, inspection reports, and other required documentation.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and promptly report mechanical issues or safety concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, company policies, and safety procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, and company personnel throughout transport operations.
  • Assist with loading and unloading activities when required.
  • Respond appropriately to changing road, weather, and traffic conditions.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuing education opportunities.

Pay: $25 - $35 /Hour Depending on Experience


Working Conditions

  • Extensive travel and overnight stays may be required.
  • Work may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and irregular schedules.
  • Exposure to traffic, construction zones, industrial sites, and changing weather conditions.
  • Frequent interaction with customers, escorts, law enforcement, and regulatory agencies.
