Under the supervision of the lead teachers, the teacher investigates, plan, and implements developmental appropriate curricula for children 15 months to 5 years old taking into consideration individual developmental and emotional needs of each child. The teacher must be trained and prepared to deal with child-related crises and emergencies, included, but not limited to, accidents, inappropriate behavior, medication reactions, and food allergies. The teacher oversees the organization, use, and maintenance of play and curricular materials and the facility. The teacher communicates with and facilitates the participation of parents and guardians in the program and collaborates with faculty and supervises undergraduate student teachers from the Springfield College campus.
Actual salaries will vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to degrees attained, experience, and other considerations permitted by law. Comprehensive compensation details, including any additional benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.Position Duties- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curricula to promote cognitive, motor, emotional, and self regulation skills.
- Attend to the physical and emotional needs of children including toileting/diapering, minor first aid, necessary specialized first aid (with training), emotional support, and comfort care.
- Supervise and train student workers and interns as they interact with children and maintain a clean and orderly physical environment. Work as a team member to ensure a welcoming, safe, nurturing educational environment for children, Springfield College students, families, campus departments, and community members.
- Interact with diverse families in person, electronically, and in writing to discuss children's development, progress, and/or challenges.
- Comply with all Department of Early Education and Care, National Association for the Education of Young Children, and Quality Improvement Rating Scale standards including regulations and professional development at level granted by each overseeing authority.
- Required - Associate's or vocational/technical school degree-Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or a related field with one to three years of work-related experience. Experience may substitute for some of the education.
- Department of Early Education and Care certified.
- CPR and First Aid certified
- Familiarity with QRIS standards
