The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Background Check Associate. Under direction, this position will receive and review incoming criminal history and Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System clearances and apply agency policy and procedures to independently provide information and/or recommendations for resolution. The position will independently perform cursory review of background check information to ensure completeness of information for approval or denial of licensure/employment prior to data entry.
The position will also perform data entry of background check information and/or driver eligibility status for facility drivers into the appropriate Department system. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is detail oriented and interested in playing a supporting role in the Department’s operations. Responsibilities:
- Performs data entry of CANTS, Sex Offender Registry System (SORS), National Sex Offender Registry System (NSORS), Out-of-State CANTS, Interstate Criminal History, Illinois State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and/or driver eligibility status for facility drivers into the appropriate Departmental system
- Prepares, keyboards, and maintains complex, highly specialized Background Check Unit (BCU) reports and other reports related to application and recommendation materials processed through Central Office
- Serves as liaison to requesting parties regarding information on Authorization for Background Check
- Serves as Central Office of Licensing contact for all issues concerning facility driver checks
- Receives, sorts, reviews, and distributes incoming mail
Requirements:
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school
- Requires 2 years of office experience
- Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 45 wpm
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
