Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Engineer to manage a 125,000 Sq. Ft. facility. This hands-on role requires a well-rounded professional with deep knowledge of HVAC systems, a broad range of handyman skills, strong computer proficiency, and experience managing vendors. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • HVAC Systems Management:
    • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, RTUs, and split systems.
    • Ensure compliance with local codes and environmental standards.
    • Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance programs.
  • General Maintenance & Handyman Work:
    • Perform routine repairs in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
    • Diagnose and resolve issues in building systems and equipment.
    • Respond to service requests and emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management:
    • Source, schedule, and supervise third-party vendors and contractors.
    • Review and negotiate service contracts.
    • Ensure vendor compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Computer & Systems Proficiency:
    • Utilize building management systems (BMS), CMMS, and digital tools to track work orders, maintenance logs, and inventory.
    • Maintain records of inspections, permits, and warranties.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic facility management software.
  • Leadership & Compliance:
    • Ensure safety procedures and building codes are strictly followed.
    • Conduct regular inspections to ensure building functionality and safety.
  • Communication & Reporting:
    • Communicate effectively with management, staff, and vendors.
    • Prepare clear and concise reports, maintenance logs, and operational updates.
    • Attend meetings and contribute to facility planning and budgeting.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in facilities management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing HVAC systems and building infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of general building repairs and handyman tasks.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, CMMS, BMS).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and lead a team.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in varying conditions.
