Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Maintenance Technician to join our apartment community team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of apartment maintenance experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to assist in maintaining the property's appearance, functionality, and resident satisfaction. HVAC certification/experience is required, and bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are strongly preferred.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of direct apartment maintenance experience
- HVAC certification and hands-on HVAC repair experience required
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, drywall, painting, and carpentry
- Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues efficiently
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Maintenance Technician and Maintenance Supervisor with daily maintenance operations
- Complete service requests in a timely and professional manner
- Perform HVAC diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance
- Repair and maintain appliances, plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, and lighting
- Assist with apartment turns and make-ready preparations
- Perform painting, drywall repairs, and general carpentry work
- Conduct property inspections and identify maintenance concerns
- Maintain grounds, common areas, and amenities to community standards
- Participate in emergency maintenance calls and rotating on-call schedules as required
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines
- Ensure excellent resident service and maintain positive resident relationships
Preferred Skills
- EPA Certification
- Experience with apartment make-readies and unit renovations
- Knowledge of pool maintenance and certification is a plus
- Ability to prioritize multiple work orders and projects
