Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Maintenance Technician to join our apartment community team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of apartment maintenance experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to assist in maintaining the property's appearance, functionality, and resident satisfaction. HVAC certification/experience is required, and bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of direct apartment maintenance experience
  • HVAC certification and hands-on HVAC repair experience required
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, drywall, painting, and carpentry
  • Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues efficiently
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Maintenance Technician and Maintenance Supervisor with daily maintenance operations
  • Complete service requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform HVAC diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance
  • Repair and maintain appliances, plumbing fixtures, electrical systems, and lighting
  • Assist with apartment turns and make-ready preparations
  • Perform painting, drywall repairs, and general carpentry work
  • Conduct property inspections and identify maintenance concerns
  • Maintain grounds, common areas, and amenities to community standards
  • Participate in emergency maintenance calls and rotating on-call schedules as required
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines
  • Ensure excellent resident service and maintain positive resident relationships

Preferred Skills

  • EPA Certification
  • Experience with apartment make-readies and unit renovations
  • Knowledge of pool maintenance and certification is a plus
  • Ability to prioritize multiple work orders and projects
