Location: Colorado
Salary: $115,000 annually + per diem 7 days a week

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and support safety operations across civil construction and underground utility projects throughout Colorado. This role is responsible for implementing and managing all aspects of the company's environmental, health, and safety program while partnering with field leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction, underground utilities, excavation, earthwork, heavy equipment operations, and utility infrastructure projects. This individual will serve as a key resource for project teams, driving a proactive safety culture and ensuring the highest standards of workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the company safety program.
- Conduct regular project site audits, inspections, and safety assessments.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, client requirements, and company policies.
- Develop and deliver safety training, orientations, and toolbox talks.
- Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to identify and mitigate risks.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage events, and develop corrective actions.
- Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and site-specific safety plans.
- Monitor excavation, trenching, confined space, heavy equipment, and utility installation activities for compliance.
- Track safety metrics, maintain records, and prepare reports for leadership and clients.
- Support environmental compliance initiatives, including stormwater, erosion control, and spill prevention measures.
- Conduct subcontractor safety evaluations and ensure adherence to project safety requirements.
- Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of construction safety experience.
- 3+ years in a Safety Manager, Senior Safety Coordinator, or similar leadership role.
- Experience in civil construction, underground utilities, site development, earthwork, heavy highway, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and industry best practices.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites throughout Colorado as needed.
Preferred
- OSHA 30 Construction certification (OSHA 500 preferred).
- CHST, ASP, CSP, or equivalent safety certification.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Experience working with utility contractors, municipalities, DOT projects, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- $115,000 annual salary
- Per diem paid 7 days per week while traveling on project assignments
- Employees whose primary residence is located within 60 miles of the assigned project site are not eligible for per diem
