Travel Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
Location: New Martinsville, WV
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: Friday–Sunday (rotating schedule flexibility required)
Duration: 13 Weeks
We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for a travel assignment in New Martinsville, West Virginia. This position requires a highly independent laboratory professional with at least 2 years of recent experience, as the traveler may be the sole laboratory technician on duty during assigned shifts.
The ideal candidate is flexible, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced acute care environment while performing a wide range of laboratory testing procedures.
Responsibilities- Perform microscopic, bacteriological, hematological, immunological, and chemical laboratory testing.
- Analyze blood, urine, tissue, stool, and other patient specimens.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment according to established protocols.
- Ensure accuracy and timely reporting of laboratory results.
- Follow quality assurance and infection control standards.
- Document testing and patient information accurately within the laboratory information system.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Laboratory Technician experience.
- Ability to work independently and manage laboratory operations during assigned shifts.
- Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.
- Flexibility to assist with schedule adjustments and vacation coverage as needed.
- Current Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) through ASCP
- Current BLS Certification (AHA)
- Active state license if required by state regulations
- Acute Care Setting
- Charting System: TruBridge / Evident
- BSN Not Required
- Unexpired Driver’s License must be included with submission.
- Background issues must be disclosed at the time of submission.
- Candidate must meet facility distance requirements (50-mile radius rule; no local candidates).
- Previous employment with WVU facilities must be disclosed on the resume.
- Travelers must have a two-year separation from prior WVU employment before returning.
