Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float pool ICU position at a Level 2 Trauma teaching hospital in Rome, GA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and a GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Float pool position covering all Med-Surg and Critical Care areas, including the ED
- Combined Medical, Surgical, Neuro, and Cardiac ICU with 26 beds
- ICU patient population includes drug overdose, MI, subarachnoid hemorrhage, MVC, sepsis, ARF, AAA, acute hypoxic respiratory failure, and more
- ICU equipped with Life Link, CRRT, and intra-aortic balloon pump
- 12-hour night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 24 hours per week
- EMR: Epic
- Every other weekend rotation required
- On-call may be required when census is low, though this is rare
- 70% of assigned holidays are required to be worked
- Orientation consists of one week of facility NEO (Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM) followed by 2–3 days of departmental orientation on the floor
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI (CPI will be offered if not already held)
- TNCC preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Level 2 Trauma and teaching hospital experience preferred given the facility setting
- Proficiency in ICU skills including arrhythmia monitoring, sedation management, paralytics, titratable drips, CVP monitoring, caring for post-craniotomy patients, and TPA administration
- CCRN preferred
- Epic EMR experience
- 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Level 2 Trauma designated, 361-bed academic teaching hospital with a residency program, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center
- Foley catheter placement requires 2 nurses per facility protocol
- Departmental support includes CNAs/nurse techs, respiratory therapists, phlebotomists, an educator, safety sitters, virtual patient observers, and security
- Navy scrubs required
- Free parking is available on-site
- Department culture emphasizes teamwork, speaking up for help, responding to call lights and rover phones promptly, and prioritizing telemetry response
- First-time travelers will be considered, though not preferred
- Local candidates are accepted — no radius rule applies, and the same rate is offered regardless of proximity to the facility
- Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
