Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma ICU position at a Magnet teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and an active MO or Compact RN license.

Details

  • ICU setting within a 1,259-bed short-term acute care Magnet and teaching hospital designated as a Level I Trauma Center
  • Patient population includes respiratory failure/ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis
  • Unit serves pre- and post-op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgery patients, as well as medicine and neuro-medicine overflow, pre- and post-transplant, and end-of-life/organ donation cases
  • Patient ratio is 1:2
  • Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call required
  • Floating within service line to other ICU units required as needed
  • Block scheduling is not available
  • Epic EMR; experience required
  • Specialized equipment includes IV pumps/titration, CRRT/dialysis, ventilator/BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillator/crash cart
  • Scrubs: Navy

Requirements

  • Active MO RN license or Compact RN license required; pending IL license may be acceptable with notation
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Experience in Medical ICU and Surgical ICU required
  • Required clinical skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, CVP monitoring, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVA/acute stroke management, BiPAP management, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, blood product administration, CRRT/dialysis, wound vac and surgical wound care with drains, phlebotomy, and infection prevention/PPE use
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position

Additional Information

  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
  • Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Holiday and charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit
  • Monthly parking passes are available through Public Safety ()
