Step back in time with our historical pharmacy that has been officially serving the community since 1937. This is a rare opportunity to manage and operate a historic pharmacy on Main Street, complete with cobble stone roads and an old fashion lunch counter. There is potential for a partnership/ownership.
We are looking for a full-time pharmacist responsible for the full scope of pharmacy operations responsible for the full scope of pharmacy operations in accordance with Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy regulations, including prescription dispensing, staff supervision, regulatory compliance, and maintenance of a clean, secure, and sanitary environment. In addition, the Pharmacist will oversee the operation of the lunch counter and retail shop, ensuring food safety and sanitation, appropriate product selection and merchandising, accurate pricing and labeling, and adherence to all applicable state and local health, safety, and consumer protection requirements. The Pharmacist provides leadership across these areas to ensure coordinated workflows, proper staffing and training, and an exceptional patient and customer experience

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the designated Pharmacist, accountable for all pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance
- Ensure adherence to all federal and state laws, including DEA and controlled substance requirements
- Oversee inventory controls, controlled substances, and diversion prevention
- Drive operational performance across key metrics such as turnaround time, dispensing accuracy, and patient satisfaction
- Lead quality assurance and medication safety initiatives
- Manage, coach, and schedule pharmacy staff
- Resolve escalated patient and operational issues
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance workflows and patient experience
- Support licensing, inspections, and regulatory interactions
- Ensure accurate billing, inventory management, and operational efficiency
Required Qualifications
- Active Massachusetts Pharmacist license in good standing
- Pharm.D. or equivalent degree
- Strong knowledge of federal and state pharmacy regulations (including DEA compliance)
- Experience with retail pharmacy systems (Liberty preferred)
- Proficiency in third-party billing and insurance adjudication
- Ability to independently manage pharmacy operations
- Experience supervising pharmacy staff and managing inventory
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years in retail or independent pharmacy
- Prior experience as Pharmacist in Charge or leadership role
- Immunization certification (e.g., APhA)
- Strong patient-facing communication skills
- Comfort working in a fast-paced or seasonal environment
Additional Information
- Must be willing to relocate to Nantucket and live on the island year round
- Private housing will be provided
- This role is ideal for candidates comfortable with island living, including ferry transportation and a seasonal pace
