Position Summary
The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) provides direct support services to students with communication disorders under the supervision of a licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist. The SLPA assists in implementing treatment plans, collecting data, preparing therapy materials, and supporting students in achieving their speech and language goals in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Provide speech and language intervention services to students as directed by the supervising SLP.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans and therapy activities developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Collect, record, and maintain accurate data regarding student performance and progress during therapy sessions.
  • Assist with preparing therapy materials, resources, and activities.
  • Support the SLP in documenting student progress and maintaining required records.
  • Collaborate with teachers, educational staff, and families as directed by the supervising SLP.
  • Utilize appropriate technology, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, and therapy tools as assigned.
  • Assist with speech, language, fluency, voice, and social communication interventions under supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA, and district policies.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as required.
  • Perform other duties within the SLPA scope of practice as assigned by the supervising SLP.


Qualifications


  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant studies, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current SLPA license, registration, or certification as required by state regulations.
  • Knowledge of speech and language disorders and evidence-based intervention techniques.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency with technology and documentation systems.
Compensation
W2 Employee
Hourly Rate Range: $35.00 - $38.00

Physical Requirements


  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry therapy materials and equipment as needed.
  • Ability to engage actively with students in classroom and therapy environments.


Work Environment


  • School-based settings including classrooms, therapy rooms, and other educational environments.
  • May work with students across multiple campuses or educational programs.


Supervision

The SLPA works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and performs only those duties permitted by applicable state laws, regulations, and professional standards governing SLPA practice.
