Summary
Seeking a Special Education History Teacher to support students ages 12–18 in a therapeutic educational setting. This role combines history instruction, classroom leadership, and student support within a structured, relationship-focused environment.
Responsibilities
• Teach History and Social Studies to students in grades 6–12
• Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons
• Serve as Homeroom Teacher for an assigned student group
• Support students with academic, emotional, and behavioral needs
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, clinicians, and support staff
• Maintain student records and progress documentation
• Participate in team meetings and educational planning
Requirements
• Massachusetts Moderate Disabilities License (Grades 5–12)
OR
• Massachusetts History or Social Studies Teaching License with experience in therapeutic, alternative, or correctional education settings
• Experience supporting students with emotional, behavioral, or academic challenges
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Preferred
• Therapeutic school experience
• Self-contained classroom experience
• Trauma-informed education experience
• Experience supporting students with emotional disabilities
