Position Overview
A behavioral health inpatient facility in Michigan is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse leader to join its nursing leadership team as an Assistant Director of Nursing. This on-site leadership role partners closely with executive nursing leadership to oversee nursing operations, support quality patient care initiatives, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.

The ideal candidate will bring strong inpatient psychiatric nursing experience along with prior leadership experience in a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities
• Support the Director of Nursing/CNO in overseeing daily nursing operations within an inpatient behavioral health environment
• Help ensure delivery of safe, high-quality patient care while promoting a positive patient and staff experience
• Supervise nursing staff and assist with hiring, onboarding, coaching, scheduling, and performance management
• Monitor staffing levels and patient care needs to maintain operational efficiency
• Assist with development and implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and quality initiatives
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations and organizational standards
• Participate in budget management and resource planning for nursing services
• Investigate incidents, assist during crisis situations, and support patient safety initiatives
• Help maintain accurate clinical documentation and continuity of care processes
• Develop and coordinate staff education and training programs
• Serve on committees and participate in organizational improvement initiatives
• Provide direct patient care support when needed

Required Qualifications
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan or eligibility to obtain licensure
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience
• Minimum of 1 year of leadership or progressive management experience
• Experience working in a behavioral health, psychiatric, or addiction recovery setting
• Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Strong understanding of inpatient nursing operations and patient safety standards

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher
• 5+ years of RN experience
• Prior inpatient psychiatric nursing experience strongly preferred
• Previous nursing leadership or nurse manager experience preferred
• Experience in a unionized healthcare environment preferred
• De-escalation/restraint certification preferred
