Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for receiving incoming materials, preparing outgoing shipments, maintaining shipping records, and ensuring products are accurately processed and delivered on time. This position works closely with Purchasing, Sales, Customer Service, and Warehouse teams to support daily operations and customer satisfaction.
Essential ResponsibilitiesShipping
- Prepare and package products for shipment.
- Determine shipping methods and coordinate outbound shipments.
- Stage and expedite materials to meet shipping schedules.
- Apply shipping labels and prepare shipping documentation.
- Verify outgoing shipments meet customer and company requirements.
- Coordinate special shipping requirements with internal departments.
- Recommend scheduling of company trucks for pickups and deliveries.
- Post shipping weights, charges, and applicable postage.
Receiving
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and shipping documents.
- Unpack materials and route products to appropriate departments.
- Document shortages, damages, or discrepancies and coordinate resolution with suppliers and carriers.
- Maintain accurate receiving records.
Inventory & Warehouse Operations
- Maintain inventory of shipping supplies and packaging materials.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Move materials between warehouse, shipping, and production areas.
- Assist with inventory accuracy and organization.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all company safety procedures and work instructions.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Education & Experience
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to work in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Basic computer and recordkeeping skills.
Preferred:
- Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics experience.
- Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read shipping documents, packing slips, and work instructions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Certifications
- Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification upon hire.

- Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Occasional movement of materials weighing up to 100 pounds using material handling equipment.

This position works in a warehouse and manufacturing environment. Employees may be exposed to:
- Moving mechanical equipment and forklifts.
- Moderate to loud noise levels.
- Dust, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Seasonal temperature variations and changing weather conditions.
