Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• High School completion required.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: Experience in advanced procedures — EBUS, bronchoscopy, standard EUS, and ERCPs.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Familiarity with endoscopy equipment or scope/instrument reprocessing preferred. Minimal two years of health care exposure in a similar clinic setting preferred.

Required Credentials: High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.

Preferred Credentials: Graduation from an Accredited (CAAHEP/ABHES) Medical Assistant Program, Surgical Technician, or Emergency Medical Tech training preferred.

Unit Details: Works under direct supervision of the provider, nursing leadership, and/or an RN or Charge RN within all aspects of Endoscopy. Assists physicians and RN with endoscopic procedures. Assists with pre/intra/post endoscopic care, including monitoring vital signs as necessary and as directed by the RN. Makes beds, cleans rooms, serves as a runner for equipment during procedures, and transports patients as needed. Properly positions the patient pre- and intra-procedure. Selects the correct endoscope and performs quality control checks pre-procedure, including air, water, and white balancing. Enters patient and procedure information into endoscopy report writing software pre-procedure and intra-procedure as needed. Handles and manages procedure accessory equipment, including endoscopic forceps, polyp snares, endoscopic clips, retrieval nets/graspers, heater probes, and specimen collection containers. Supports airway via head positioning and performs oropharyngeal suctioning. Provides abdominal pressure as guided by the provider. Collects and accurately labels specimens. Performs immediate post-procedure endoscope pre-cleaning. Sets up, assembles, and disassembles accessories for numerous technical procedures. Troubleshoots endoscopes and support equipment, including suction, CO2 pumps, and water pumps. Cleans and processes equipment after procedures, including leak testing and other troubleshooting. Performs high-level disinfection of endoscopes and accessories.

Shift & Scheduling: On-call is required: one weekend a month, coverage starts at 6am, 24-hour shift; one week a month, coverage is 430pm-6am.
